Lee Ann Womack hit the country scene big in the late 1990’s her songs and style resembled some big country legends like Dolly Parton.

She won ACM Top New Female Vocalist of the Year in 1997.

In 2000 Lee Ann’s biggest hit “I Hope You Dance” hit the top position on Billboards Country Charts and the hot 100 and won CMA Single of the Year.

I went to Nashville in 2000 to attend a Country Radio Seminar, I got to the hotel early that morning and was sitting outside drinking a cup of coffee, when a short red head came up to me and asked me where she could get a good cup of coffee.

I looked up from the bench I was sitting on and instantly knew I was talking to Lee Ann Womack, when I told her it was an honor to meet her and that I was a country radio jock from New York, she smiled and said the honor is mine and thanks for playing my music.

During that week she performed for us at the hotel and acknowledged my presence with a smile and a nod.
