Most of Today’s Kids Are Growing Up Without Toys
When I think back on my childhood I often find myself thinking about the time I spent playing. From my pogo stick to my Cricket doll to my Lincoln Logs and my Big Wheel, so much of my time was spent playing with some of the greatest toys ever made. So, it’s depressing to me to hear that a lot of today’s kids are growing up without toys.
A new survey says today’s kids are playing with touch screens more than actual, physical toys. And I find that stat sad.
Comic books, action figures, water guns, board games, and other classic toys are being phased out and replaced by electronic screens. As a matter of fact, more than 60 percent of the parents who took the poll said their child uses a touchscreen “often.”
I’m not a doctor or an expert, or even a parent for that matter, but I’m thinking all this screen time can’t be so good for little eyes.
Are you a parent whose child spend more time playing with an electronic device than with an old fashioned toy like a doll or toy truck? Are you okay with this or do you feel guilty? Would love for you to leave a comment below and let me know!
