I grew up in a little river town with a huge park and can remember my nine-year-old self walking to the park- sometimes with friends and sometimes alone- to play on the swings or in the winter, to go sledding down the massive hill. And it wasn't a problem. How times have changed!

According to a new survey, 68% of adults believe nine-year-olds shouldn’t be allowed to play at public parks alone and that there should actually be laws in place to make sure kids are supervised.

As the kids get older, attitudes about what they should be able to do softens a bit. For example, only 43% thought there should be a law requiring supervision of 12-year-olds playing alone outside.

What do you think? Should it be illegal for kids 9 and younger to play alone in a public park?
