As the region continues to recovery efforts after last week's flash flooding, weather forecasters say more heavy rain may be heading to the Twin Tiers.

The National Weather Service says showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to move across the area late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.

Some of the storms could produce heavy downpours.

Forecasters say because of the recent heavy rainfall and wet soil conditions, isolated flash flooding is possible. They say strong gusty winds may accompany the thunderstorms.

After Tuesday night, no hazardous weather is in the forecast for the Binghamton area for the remainder of the week.

The State of Emergency that had been declared by Broome County Executive Jason Garnar last week because of flash flooding problems remained in effect.

Tipping fees at the county landfill have been temporarily waived for flood debris.
