Miranda Lambert Careful Not to Rush Recording ‘Platinum’

The time between Miranda Lambert‘s last LP and her upcoming fifth album ‘Platinum’ is two years and eight months. There’s plenty of anticipation, but there’s a reason for the wait too — the songstress was very careful to not rush the recording process of the record.

“From the day you kinda go, ‘I need to start looking for songs and writing songs,’ it feels like no matter how much time you have, you’re rushed,” Lambert explains. “And so I didn’t want to rush it at all. To me it’s all about timing and making sure that you can feel like you can finally sit there and go, ‘OK, the album’s done,’ and never have a moment where you go, ‘I wish we could change that or I wish we had a different song.’”

Her 16-track record tracks the songstress’ life as she reaches 30, and she had a heavy hand in the whole process, writing or co-writing eight songs. Although she was urged to trim ‘Platinum’ down, Lambert didn’t budge. “Now when you listen to it as a whole, what do you take off?” she asks. Point taken.

‘Platinum’ is bursting with exciting songs, including a collaboration with Carrie Underwood, a track taking on the paparazzi, and a song reflecting on self-image battles that women face daily.

Fans can root for Lambert Sunday (April 6) at the Academy of Country Music Awards, where one of her seven nominations includes Entertainer of the Year. The show airs at 8PM ET on CBS.
