As we become more aware of the growing need to help those with mental health problems, the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) has a way for you to not only get educated, but learn how to help those with problems.

The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier will offer mental health first aid training on Tuesday May 6th from 8am until 5pm at MHAST on Court Street in Binghamton.

MHAST, the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier is a private non-profit organization which has been enhancing the lives of our community for over 85 years.

The training on May 6th is open to the public and participants will receive certification valid for three years. The cost is $90 per person, which includes the Mental Health First Aid Training Manual and lunch.

Participants will learn how to assess harm to self and others resulting from mental illness, listen while refraining from judgement, manage an acute mental health crisis, discuss local mental health resources and recommend evidence based self help strategies for people living with mental illness.

Class size is limited, so register here or call 607-771-8888 by May 3rd.
