Broome County is working with state and federal officials to develop design alternatives for a new structure. The bridge, which is just west of Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, crosses Choconut Creek.

The public session on the project will be held at Vestal Town Hall on November 29 at 6 p.m.

The Broome County Department of Public Works, the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are overseeing the planning for a proposed new bridge. The agencies are working with Delta Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors of Endwell.

According to a county news release, the project is to address "structural deficiencies with the bridge and to increase the hydraulic capacity of the structure."

The bridge has been closed several times in recent years following periods of heavy rainfall.
