May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies are teaming up to promote mental health issues.

This Friday, May 4th, MHAST will host its annual DIFD (Do It For Daron) - Power to the Purple Night when the Ponies take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Ponies will be wearing purple game jerseys in support of youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

They will will turn the stadium purple and you are invited to wear purple to the game too. Stick around after the fireworks when everyone wearing purple will be invited onto the field for a special DIFD photo.

Some of the game jerseys will be auctioned off at the game....No, I don't know if one of them will be Tim Tebow's. All proceeds will go to MHAST to promote mental health awareness in the Southern Tier.

DIFD is a program promoting youth mental wellness and suicide prevention. You can read about Daron's story here.

Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24 in the country. Things are tougher for our youth then ever before especially with social media. It's important to look for the signs.

Go here to see the signs and what we as parents can do. Our kids may be afraid to let us know that something is going on in their lives and that they can't handle it.

So get your favorite purple outfit together and head to NYSEG Stadium on Friday night. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Giddy-Up and Let's Get Ready to Rumble.
