According to CNN, more than 167,000 pounds of ground beef from a meat company in Nebraska is being recalled for fears of being tainted with E.Coli bacteria that may make beef eaters very sick.  Some of the beef could have made it on the shelves at grocery stores in the Southern Tier.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Sunday that All American Meats Inc. is recalling the meat that was sold to retailers nationwide. No illnesses have been linked to the beef but the ground beef has been shipped all over the country.

Ground beef affected was processed and packaged in 60-pound or 80-pound packages with a sell-by date of November 3rd and a USDA inspection stamp number 20420.

E. coli or O157:H7 is known to cause severe illness or even death.  Typical symptoms include severe cramps, bloody stools or diarrhea or vomiting.  Symptoms can even occur 3 or 4 days after the tainted products have been consumed.

Restaurant chains and local restaurants that serve ground beef should check the USDA web site.
