‘Mass Mobs’ Filling Church Pews

You've heard of flash mobs- that's where a bunch of people get together at a pre-determined location to sing and dace for unsuspecting onlookers. But have you heard about Mass mobs?

Mass Mobs are a new phenomenon popping up all over Detroit in hopes to revive old churches and breathe new life into them.

The first Mass mob was in April and only about 150 people showed up, but after the Detroit Free Press ran a story about it, the size of the next Mass Mob doubled.

Now, Mass mobs are drawing crowds of 2,000 people and it's not just the people that are giving these churches a boost. The most recent Mass Mob's collection basket brought in more than $19,000. That's about TEN times the amount donated at a typical Mass.

I think this concept is fantastic and hope it catches on across the country.
