Just this weekend I was telling my friends how much I’ve been wanting to get a dog, but my lease states that I’m not allowed. At the time I signed, a dog was the very last thing on my mind, but now I’m thinking it’d be nice.

If you’re a dog lover like me, this will probably blow your mind. With all the needy dogs in shelters and rescues all over the world, a property developer in China just paid $1.9 million for the most expensive dog in the world–a one-year-old Tibetan Mastiff.

In an interview with a Chinese newspaper, the dog's breeder attempted to justify the cost of the dog by saying,“They have lion’s blood and are top-of-the-range mastiff studs.”

But the real truth is that the Tibetan Mastiff has become a status symbol with wealthy Chinese residents and that's the real reason the price of this dogs has gotten so out of hand.
