There are creative marriage proposals and then there are marriage proposals that leave you scratching your head. This is the later. One guy put his driver’s license and police record on the line for a proposal.

In Germany, if you’re speeding, you’ll trigger a speed camera which will take a photo. After the photo is taken, the government then matches the license plate with the car owner’s address and sends both the ticket and photographic proof of the speeding event to the offender.

31-year-old Christian Breier knew all of this, so he made a sign  just large enough to fit inside his windshield that read, “Will you marry me?”

After setting the sign in his windshield, Breier sped past the camera so it would take a photo.

Because fines for speeding increase in Germany depending how far over the speed limit you go, Breier had to be careful not to go too fast and his quest to do this ended up taking  five tries to get right, but it eventually worked.

Breier’s 29-year-old girlfriend, Anja received the photo with the proposal in the mail and in the end Breier had to pay a $17 fine, but says, “It was most definitely worth it. She said yes, and that is priceless."
