I've heard people joke about their kid loving to read so much that they'd happily read the phone book. I was that child. I read anything and everything I could get my hands on, so I totally feel for this kid.

12-year-old Matthew Flores wanted to read. He wanted to read so badly that he worked up the courage to ask his mail carrier is he had any junk mail he could read. Matthew told the postal worker that he wanted to reach and that he wished he could have some books.

The mail carrier, Ron Lynch, told Matthew that he should go to the library because there are lots and lots of books there, but Matthew told Ron that his family didn’t have a car and couldn’t afford the bus fare to get him there.

Ron was so moved that he decided to put a post on Facebook, asking friends if they had any books they could donate. Ron figured he might be able to get a couple books from Matthew, but he was in for a big surprise.

Instead of just a couple of books, people across the world have mailed more than 300 books to Matthew all thanks to the Facebook post of a mail carrier that went viral.

Matthew says he plans to pay the books forward by sending some of the books to other kids who are in the same situation he was in.
