This weekend several youth and teens representing local Jewish and Unitarian Universalist congregations will participate in the building of a wheelchair ramp at the home of a person in need of a ramp in Binghamton.  These youths, representing congregations in the Abrahamic tradition, are cooperating across the two faith traditions in order to provide greater independence to the recipient.

The project is sponsored by ‘Ramp It Up’ of the Broome County Council of Churches and the Children of Abraham.  Children of Abraham is a local organization that sponsors events to strengthen relationships among Jews, Christians, Muslims and Unitarian Universalists.  Children of Abraham has sponsored numerous interfaith events in synagogues, churches and a mosque over the past six years.  This is their first interfaith youth event.

The Hawk salutes the participants who made a difference this weekend for those in need.
