Nine suspects taken into custody in a series of lightning raids in Binghamton and Johnson City appeared in federal court for arraignment.

Those arrested early November 17 face counts in connection with suspected gang-related drug trafficking.

More than 150 law enforcement officers from local, state and federal agencies reviewed plans for the operation during a pre-dawn session at the Broome County public safety facility in the town of Dickinson.

Convoys of police vehicles fanned out to eleven sites in Binghamton and one location in Johnson City.

The raids began at 6 a.m. and were over in a matter of minutes.

Assistant United States attorney Miroslav Lovric told WNBF News all of the suspects who were sought in the investigation were taken into custody.

Lovric said all nine face federal drug trafficking charges.
