Last Call for ‘Mail Call’ for Local World War II Veterans
This Saturday, April 12th more than 70 local WWII veterans (most now in their 80’s) will depart from the Binghamton Airport to visit Washington DC through the Twin Tier Honor Flight and will visit their memorial, the World War II Memorial.
So many of these men never received the homecoming they deserved after fighting in the war, so we want to make this homecoming extra special. Once they return to Binghamton from their day in Washington DC, “Mail Call” will be conducted just as was done when they were active duty. The name of each man will be called and he will be handed a bundle of mail. Letters from home, letters from friends and family even letters from a stranger, sending love and thanking them for their service.
This is the last call for “Mail Call.” All corespondent needs to be received by April 8th. We know that’s not a lot of time, but we believe that we can make this happen. If you write, please remember to keep your note lighthearted and filled with thanks. Please refrain from including political opinions.
There are two ways for you to submit your “mail call” for a vet today:
By 5pm at the 98.1 The Hawk studio at 59 Court Street in Binghamton.
Simply submit your note by filling out the form below by the end of the day today.
