The owner of Tioga Downs, which has applied to New York State for a license to run a full-service casino, and Turning Stone Casino are protesting a request by a Finger Lakes Town Board for the state to establish a 90 mile buffer zone around the Lago Resort site in Tyre.

The exclusivity zone would not allow any sites to earn a Southern Tier gaming license in that area and that includes Tioga Downs in Nichols, effectively pushing the other players off the casino playground in the Southern Tier and Central New York.

Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural calls the move a low blow and both he and Turning Stone are urging the state to turn down the request.
