"They’ll laugh at you," they said.  "I don’t care," I said.

Remember how hot last summer was?  I really wanted to spend some time outside, but felt like I was going to croak every time I stepped out of the door. So I bought myself a kiddie pool and plopped it on my deck and was able to enjoy the summer without dying of heat exhaustion.

The best part about those cheap little backyard kiddie pools is that you don't necessarily have to be a little kid to enjoy them. In fact, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they’re probably even more fun for adults than they are for kids.

I used my plastic kiddie pool with the colorful fishies on the bottom until it cracked and wore out and then replaced it with a pool that was a little bigger, which I promptly filled with rubber duckies because those are a must for fun:

Whether or not you have kids, you should seriously consider getting yourself a kiddie pool this summer and let the fun begin. Trust me.

Here are some things to do with a kiddie pool that aren't for kids:

  • Jell-O wrestling
  • Oil wrestling
  • Mud wrestling
  • Giant cooler
  • Giant punch bowl
  • Belly flop contest
  • Fill with water and just relax in it with a book
  • Let the dog cool off
