Keith Urban Takes Over a HAWK Weekend

This weekend on a HAWK Sunday night, Keith Urban reveals that he's been racking up the frequent flier miles, traveling between London, where his wife is rehearsing a new play, and Nashville, where he's recording his next album.  In between, he's doing some fairs and festivals. Just a few weeks ago, Keith attended a #1 party in Nashville for "Raise 'Em Up."

Keith Urban is this week's in-studio co-host on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton, Sunday night 7-10pm on 98.1 The HAWK.  He tells Lon about the new play that stars his wife Nicole Kidman: "It's called 'Photograph 51.'  It opens in a couple weeks on the West End and runs until mid-November.  So this back and forth process will be a little longer."

Are the kids with you or Nicole? "I'm bringing them back and forth, so sometimes they're there, and sometimes they're here and they go to school.  We have a tutor when they're in London, but it's important for the kids be in their proper school and be around their friends and that sort of thing."

In addition, "American Idol" auditions have begun.  Keith was just in San Francisco this past weekend.  He & Lon talked about his thoughts about Idol's final season: "

Earlier this summer, Little Big Town's Jimi Westbrook announced he was having vocal chord surgery, and took some time off the road.  One of the people he consulted was Keith Urban.  Keith told Lon, "To not be able to speak for three weeks, and in Jimi's case, it was longer, because they had to do another surgery, that's really hard to get through emotionally and mentally.  To not be able to talk to your wife and kids.  The hardest part if when you have an argument.  You've got a white board, and you're writing REALLY hard on the white board, breaking pens and stuff trying to make your point.  But we got to text each other a lot during that period."
