Kane Brown's younger sister is doing well after being stabbed during a fight in late July. The singer offered an update on his sibling's condition in a recent interview.

"I know she's getting better now; she's recovering, she's texting me," Brown tells People. "I do know they arrested the girl; I don’t know where they found her, but I know that she's arrested, and my sister's doing better."

Brown's sister, 19-year-old Heidi Swafford, was fighting with another woman on the afternoon of July 26 in Chattanooga, Tenn., when she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and shoulder. She was taken to a local hospital, and although her injuries are non-life-threatening, she may have sustained permanent nerve damage (Brown did not offer an update on this in his comments to People).

“It was hard because I was all the way ... in Nebraska, and I get a text from my oldest sister saying that she was stabbed, so it's like, I just wished I could be there," Brown admits. "I wanted to turn the bus around to go back, but we had two weeks of shows."

Following the fight, the Chattanooga Police Department had a warrant out to arrest the woman with whom Swafford was fighting. CPD have since arrested the 16-year-old female and charged her with attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault, according to WCRB-TV.

After earning a large following online, Brown signed his first major-label record deal with RCA Nashville in January and released his debut major-label EP, Chapter 1, in mid-March. He is on the road this summer as part of Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 Dig Your Roots Tour. Following his trek with FGL, the singer — who recently dropped a brand-new single, “Thunder in the Rain” — will embark on a headlining tour that is set to begin in November and wrap up in January.
