Kaitlyn Jackson Could Be The Next Hawk Hitmaker
Name: Kaitlyn Jackson
From: Norwich, New York
Singing Experience: Forever (almost literally) “My first talent show was when I was five.”
Heroes: Her parents. “My Mom is like my manager and gets me all of my shows. My Dad also sings. We still do performances all of the time.”
Favorite Country Artist: Carrie Underwood “She’s just as good live as in her recordings and that’s rare.”
Country Crush: Scotty McCreery (but actually Twilight’s Taylor Lautner) “Taylor Lautner all the way. I’m definitely Team Jacob.”
The Inside Scoop:
While forever is a term that flippantly tossed around these days, Kaitlyn Jackson can truly say that she’s been singing forever. After starting to showcase her talents when she was five, Kaitlyn’s voice propelled her to a rapid ascension in music. By age seven, she had the opportunity to perform alongside Kenny Rogers and Linda Davis. Most recently, she won the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.
She’s competed in all kinds of area competitions, including the CNY Radio Group’s Junior Idol (which she won), EPAC Idol, and past 98.1 The Hawk competitions (including the Colgate Country Showdown). She’s performed all over the Southern Tier and Central New York, building a promising career that’s found another platform in The Hitmaker Challenge. Kaitlyn was named the Horizon Award Winner by the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame in recognition of her emergence as a star and her bright future in country music.
In addition to her strong roots in New York, Kaitlyn has ventured to Nashville and made the most of her country music mission. From her website:
Kaitlyn made two trips to Nashville to co-write with hit songwriters Sarah Majors (Trisha Yearwood), and Marty Brown (George Strait) as well as other accomplished songwriters including CJ Watson, David Harper, Brandon Maddox, Max Abrams, and Dave Tough. She completed recording a demo of several original songs produced by Grammy Nominee Kent Wells, at the famous Sound Kitchen Studios in Franklin, TN, and a few more of her original songs were produced by Dave Tough at Ocean Way Studios on Music Row.
Having a wealth of experience like Kaitlyn does at age 14 is a recipe for lasting success. While professional level guidance is good, it’s equally important to have personal support. Kaitlyn’s parents are not only there for her in management and personal support role, but also provide a heritage of musical talent and influence. Her Dad is a talented singer and her Mom is an excellent piano player. Kaitlyn and her Dad sang together during a 98.1 The Hawk Christmas event last year, in fact!
Kaitlyn’s hard work and dedication to singing and songwriting has already landed her in the company of country music stars. From her website:
In recent years Kaitlyn opened for major country artists including Joe Nichols, Josh Gracin, Bryan White, Andy Griggs, Mark Wills, Jeff Bates, Trent Willmon, and Emerson Drive.
Because it’s nearly impossible to whittle Kaitlyn’s career (and meteoric rise in musicianship) down into one page, please visit her website for more on Kaitlyn, her tour dates and more of her music.
To the country music skeptic:
Country music is relatable to everyone. There is a song for every emotion and situation. The lyrics can make you laugh, touch your heart, pump you up, or simply let you know you are not alone in what you are feeling or going through.
To potential voters:
Music has been a big part of my life and I love sharing my music with others. It would be such an honor to be able to continue pursuing my dream as a singer by receiving the vote of Hawk listeners in this competition. Thanks!
Here is Kaitlyn’s song. Take a listen and look out for your opportunity to vote once all 10 contestants have been profiled.
