Get out and support a GREAT cause, thee Mission Steps Walk Benefitting Multiple Sclerosis. This Sunday, March 13th 2016 at The Oakdale Mall.

Multiple Sclerosis seems to be one of those diseases, you’ve heard of but may not know much about. MS is a disease that hits close to home for me, being a very good friend of mine’s uncle has a disabling form of MS.

You may be surprised to know that it affects over 400,000 Americans.  Some celebrities have brought more awareness to this awful disease by speaking out about their diagnosis, such as: Jamie Lynn Sigler, Montel Williams, Clay Walker, and Alan and David Osmond of the Osmond Family, to name a few.

Thank you to Multiple Sclerosis Resources of Central New York, Inc for bringing awareness about MS to Upstate New York since 1998. They are dedicated to creating awareness and providing resources to improve the lives of individuals with multiple sclerosis and their families."

For those of you who may still not know what it is, there is some pretty good information regarding MS from Multiple Sclerosis Resources of Central New York Inc

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

MS is a chronic disease of the central nervous system affecting the brain and spinal cord.

MS occurs when myelin, a substance covering nerve fibers deteriorates and lesions form. This distorts messages to or from the brain, resulting in a variety of symptoms varying from mild to severe. MS usually appears between the ages of 15-50, just as a person is starting their lives. Women are affected more than men. Currently there are over 400,000 Americans affected by MS. The cause of MS is not clearly known, therefore there is no cure for this often debilitating disease. MS Symptoms can include: Vision Problems, Tingling/Numbness, Muscle Weakness, Loss of Balance/Coordination, Walking Difficulties, Excessive Fatigue,Bladder/Bowel Problems, Cognitive Difficulties, andSpeech Impairment.
