Earth Day is a day that reminds everyone how fragile this planet is.  There's a great Native American quote that reads like this: "Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children."

With that in mind, I am inviting Hawk listeners to join me for a 'city clean' on Monday morning beginning at 8am.  Look for the Hawk van in the vacant lot across from Jack Sherman Toyota, Upper Court Street in Binghamton.  I'll be out there with my wonderful new friend Sharon Nieminski, who celebrates Earth Day every day by doing her part to keep the highways and city streets clean.  Sharon is dedicated to making a difference and in chatting with her on the telephone the other day, she insired me to do the same.

We would all love for you to join us.  Rain or shine, we'll be there to kick off Earth Day.  If you plan to join us, please plan to get a little dirty.  We will have limited gloves and Agway of Endicott and Owego has joined the Earth Day spirit by giving us rakes and brooms.  If you could bring your own, that would sure help.

Pass the word.  Wheather you join us Monday morning or do your own thing, do something for the Earth Monday and every day.
