Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A New York City man was arrested after he allegedly attacked an employee at the Johnson City Walmart store with pepper spray.

Authorities say 34-year-old Jahmod White was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony. He also faces a count of petit larceny.

Police say White was arrested on Sunday after he was accused of stealing merchandise from the store on Gannett Drive.

Investigators say when White was confronted by a Walmart security officer, he sprayed the him in the face with pepper spray. White then ran from the store. He was apprehended by police a short time later.

Officials say Johnson City village court previously had issued a warrant for White on a petit larceny charge.

White was arraigned in Union town court and sent to Broome County Jail.
