The Arch Street Bridge will bear Smith's name following a ceremony planned for next week.

Village police say North Arch Street will be closed at 9:45 a.m. Thursday (May 5) in preparation for the ceremony.

The event will be held near Main Street at the south end of the bridge.

The ceremony could be rescheduled due to weather conditions.

Smith died shortly after he was shot on March 31, 2014. He had responded to a disturbance at a Harrison Street medical office.
