Fans of the classic TV show 'The Waltons,' are saddened by the news of Joe Conley passing away at the age of 85 Sunday.  Conley played country storekeeper Ike Godsey on the long running family drama.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Joe's acting career bagan in the 1950's and continued until he retired in 2001.  His acting resume included roles on Dragnet, Mister Ed, Green Acres, The Brady Bunch and a handful of big screen roles, Blind Obsession and the Tom Hanks film, Cast Away.

But he's most recognized for his role of Ike Godsey, opposite Corabeth Walton Godsey.  He played that role for almost 12 years on the TV series and a number of reunion movies.

He was survived by his wife of 44 years and 4 children. He died peacefully at a care facility of dementia.
