Former professional wrestler Jimmy Snuka has died, at age 73.

Jimmy has been living out his remainder of years in hospice care after being told in late 2016 that he had just months to live. His daughter Tamina Snuka, who is currently a wrestler with the WWE. Wrote on her Twitter:

"I LOVE YOU DAD #FOREVERMYDAD #RestWell #FamiliesAreForever #BestDad #SnukaLegacy"

She accompanied the message with an image of her appearing to hold her ill father's hand.

Jimmy Snuka was charged with 3rd-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in 1983, because of the death of his then girlfriend Nancy Argentino. Nancy, 23 years old at the time, was taken to hospital gasping for air and oozing yellow liquid from her mouth after she spent the night in a hotel room with Jimmy.

She died the next day.

Snuka, whose real name is James Wiley Smith Reiher, was named as a 'person of interest' at the time but no charges were ever brought and the case went cold.

He has long maintained his innocence, even writing in his autobiography: "I never hit Nancy or threatened her." But in September 2015, Snuka was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

Fast forward to June 2016 and Snuka was declared mentally incompetent at a hearing and had a new hearing scheduled to re-evaluate his condition.

Jimmy Snuka passed away in hospice care around 2pm on January 15th, 2017 at the age of 73.
