Authorities say the suspects in the Main Street incident are teenagers who live in the village.

Police say 18-year-old Dominique Cruz and a 15-year-old boy were charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony.

The boy's case will be handled by the Broome County probation department. He was released to a parent.

Investigators say the operator of a Main Street business on July 10 discovered a "significant amount" of paint had been dumped from the roof onto the establishment's sign. The paint also covered the awning and spilled onto the sidewalk in front of the business.

Police describe the incident as a "random mischievous act." Detectives believe the business was not specifically targeted by the teens.

Authorities say repairs were underway to restore the business sign, the awning and the sidewalk.
