Jake Owen's Dad started radiation treatments yesterday, the same day as my Dad started his second round of chemo.

Jake's Dad was recently diagnosed with cancer and Jake told Country Weekly that it's going to be a really rough road for his Dad:

"His cancer started on the back of his tongue. They shoot your radiation here, you lose all your taste buds for, they said, at least a year, and because they're five days a week for six and a half weeks, they're gonna shoot him in his neck, he's gonna have a horrible sore throat. So, if you think about sore throat and you can't taste anything, it's kind of hard to eat and keep stuff like that. So, that's gonna be tough on him."

I can sympathize with what Jake is going through because my Dad is going through some hardcore cancer things right now and I'm terrified about the outcome.  If you've ever been down this road, you know how hard it can be to keep your chin up when it feels like your world is tumbling down, so I've got so much respect for Jake's optimistic comments:

"My dad's been good at everything he does. He'll beat it. He'll be good, and I want to maintain that as well, you know, that mind-set."

I sincerely hope that things turn around for Jake's Dad and that he comes out on the winning side of this disgusting disease.
