Like many of his country music peers, Jake Owen is taking it upon himself to give back to those affected by Hurricane Irma in his home state of Florida.

The country star has partnered with Florida Governor Rick Scott to launch the Bring Back the Sunshine Campaign, and he’s calling on fans to make a one-time donation of $10 that will directly impact Floridans recovering from the devastating hurricane.

Owen made the official announcement via Instagram on Saturday (Sept. 16), tugging at the hearts of fans with his honest plea to donate to the campaign, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward relief efforts in the state via the Florida Disaster Fund.

“All of your money goes directly to the people that need it most,” Owen passionately writes in the caption for the video. “Florida thrives on tourism and people visiting our state. We aren’t just rebuilding homes. Together we are rebuilding jobs, schools, infrastructure … we are rebuilding lives.”

“We are thrilled that Jake Owen is lending a helping hand to Floridians in need. As a native Floridian, Jake’s generosity and support is especially meaningful as our state continues the recovery process,” Scott says in a press release.

Owen’s campaign is just one of many selfless acts the country music community has demonstrated since Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma collectively devastated areas of Texas, Florida and the Caribbean Islands. George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Blake Shelton and more country stars participated in the Hand in Hand benefit concert on Sept. 12, helping bring $44 million in donations to hurricane relief efforts. Dustin Lynch also hosted a sold-out benefit in Dallas, while both Luke Bryan and Zac Brown Band have vowed to donate the proceeds from their upcoming shows in Houston to those impacted by the hurricane.
