If you're a NASCAR fan then you know that there are 2 races left in the Sprint Cup championship. But did you know that there is racing left in the Southern Tier? November racing here locally, it's true.

It's the 44th running of the Southern Tier 100 for Modifieds. This annual event is Saturday beginning at 1 at Five Mile Point Speedway. It also includes qualifying and feature events for the Modifieds, Race of Champions Street Stocks, IMCA Modifieds and Excel 600 c.c. Modifieds.

If cold Friday nights are your thing, there will be open practice Friday evening from 6-8pm. Saturday looks like this. Pit gates open at 10 with grandstand gates opening at 1. Practice is slated for 12 noon with racing set for 1:00 p.m.

To read more about the Southern Tier 100 go here. The last chance in 2013 for some racing in the dirt. To paraphrase my friend Leon (track announcer): The weather may be cold but the racing is hot...SO YA GOTTA BE THERE....I could never do it as well as him.
