It's hard to imagine how ridiculous our healthcare system can become after such a long time of running without a system of checks and balances. What am I talking about? Oh you know charging new parents forty bucks to hold their newborn after he was born.

A couple in Utah had a baby a few weeks ago, and the Dad just posted a copy of their hospital bill on Reddit showing a $39.35 charge for... get this, "skin to skin after C-sec."  In other words, they were charged 40 bucks to hold their son after he was born.
Now how in the blue blazes of H-E-Double Hockey Sticks do you think it's acceptable to charge a family to hold their kid?!??

A labor and delivery nurse dropped a response for explanation, and ... it goes a little something like this: "When a baby is born with a c-section in the operating room and the parents hold them right away, an extra nurse has to stay and monitor the baby to make sure they're okay."   OK, fine I'm all for making sure the baby is gonna be fine, but everyone online is pretty much up in arms over what seems to be a pretty petty charge to find on the hospital bill.
