Yes and no! The fixtures are the same buy Johnson Controls was contracted over a ton of other bids back in February to take all the old electric hogs of bulbs and fixtures out of our existing street lamps and do upgrades. The City of Binghamton's over 7000 lighting installations is being be upgraded to LED Technology!

Energy and costs to maintain LED lighting will pay for itself, and eventually be saving the city money, even though the cost to retro fit the city's lighting will be near $4 million.  LED lights are about 7 times brighter than the lights we are currently walking under

WBNGTV reported: "In 2013, the City spent roughly $1.47 million on energy expenses. Of that, $534,751 was spent on street lighting."
