Ever wonder why there is so much cancer in the Binghamton area?  Could the cause lie with what we unknowingly put in our bodies?  Experts advise to detox.

There are many claims on the market that if you buy this product or that product, you can detox your body.  Did you know you can detox quite simply without opening your wallet.

1) Use bar soap.  According to Men's Journal, liquid soaps and body washes have endocrine-disrupt hormone levels (EDCs), including testosterone, and boost the risks of diabetes, weight gain, and cancer.  And on top of that, "there's zero proof synthetics clean any better than regular soap."

2)  Avoid synthetic fragrances.  "Air fresheners, candles, hand lotions, if it's scented, you can bet it contains EDC's."  Look in health food stores that clearly claim to be phthalate free or that use plant-based oils or aromas.

3) Shave with coconut oil.  "A few dabs are enough to keep skins moisturized."

4) Stock up on mason jars.  Plastic wrap and plastics are major sources of phthalates.  Get in the habit of using stainless-steel containers or mason jars instead to pack a lunch or drinking water.
