If one New York politician has his way, all homeless people in New York State will be off the streets today and placed in shelters.  Governor Cuomo signed an executive order Sunday, requiring local governments to take homeless people to local shelters due to temperatures and wind chills that are expected to plummet well below zero tonight, including right here in the Greater Binghamton area.

According to the New York Times, homeless people will be removed by force if necessary for what the governor says will "protect public safety, and the state can take appropriate steps, including involuntary placement.”

But not all New York State residents are happy with the ruling.  Some say it will cause havoc at local shelters.  A report from the Daily News says some of the homeless are saying "hell no, we won't go."

So what do you think?  Is this a good idea or a bad idea to make the homeless seek shelter on cold winter days and nights?
