The police in Georgia found a 19 year old kid, Fred Barley staying in a tent near Gordon State College. The campus is 50 miles south of Atlanta. They were going to make him vacate the premises like they do with all vagrants until... they spoke with him.

Fred has been homeless for quite awhile but rode his bike to campus for the prurpose of enrollment in classes. He even made sure he'd shown up before the dorms opened so he could find a job. Way before the dorms opened.

See, Fred borrowed this little brothers bike. and were not talking about a ten speed either. A rather small  BMX bike, and rode that in to the college a little over 50 miles in the 100 degree outside temperature.

The police didn't kick him off campus after all. Instead, the department paid for a hotel room for him for a few nights. Then the community found out about Fred's story and got behind him in a big way. The town folk bought him a lot of items they figured he would need. The list of items included a new bike that was actually adult sized, and the best part is a local pizza joint put him on staff. Oh, and we aren't even done yet!

Someone set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his tuition. Donations began to be turned away last Sunday. Why you ask?  They raised over $184,000.00.

Fred posted a video on Facebook after the money started rolling in, giving thanks and promising to only use it to pay for what he needs right now, and is saving the rest of it to go to medical school.
