There is one great thing about going home for the holidays, and that is all the great food to be had. Of course, there is the traditional meals consisting of ham, potatoes, a nice kind of bread. The real treat lies in what food you enjoyed as a child from the area where you grew up.

I’m a hug fan of diners, and back home we have a few great ones. I always look forward to their mediocre coffee and great omelettes. The nostalgia factor plays a big role in my love for these diners.

Friends and I will be gathering together to grab breakfast at a buffet down in Lancaster, PA. In high school we would drive over an hour to get to this great place, and then show up to school late. The food is great but the memories are even greater!

I will swing by WaWa and grab delicious coffee and a nice hoagie. I will stop by the bar I used to work at and grab their amazing prime rib sandwich. I may even stop to get ice cream! (Yes, it is the middle of winter and yes, I gave up dairy, but don’t judge me!)

Spending time with family and having a delicious dinner is a great time. But going home for the holidays and grabbing those delicious treats and great memories is the best part.

Happy Holidays!
