GMO Free USA published a report this week that includes the results of an independent lab test that documented high levels of insecticide-producing genetically engineered corn in a popular kids breakfast cereal.

Tests found high levels of glyphosate in Kellogg's Froot Loops, the main ingredient in Roundup weedkiller.  The chemical glyphosate is known to be sprayed heavily on GMO crops in the USA and there is a great deal of debate on the safety and health effects of the chemical on the human health.

Although regulated by the EPA, there are more and more of these independent studies taking place to let consumers know what may be hidden in everyday foods.

In 2013 The Nation reports, GMO foods are banned in 26 countries and in the US, there are bills introduced in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine that would require foods containing genetically modified ingredients to be clearly labeled on the package.
