One of the things that I enjoy about Christmas is getting my Dad a Hess truck. He has a massive collection and it's neat to see all the different trucks. The last couple of years, my Dad has also got trucks to give to the grand kids for Christmas as well.

It looks like the Hess name is leaving the area.

Hess Express convenience stores are going to become Speedway. The green and white colors will become red and white. It's part of an acquisition of Hess retail operations by Marathon Petroleum Corporation from Ohio.

There are 10 Hess stores in the Southern Tier including Binghamton, Vestal, Endicott, Whitney Point and Sanitaria Springs. 1200 stores in all will become Speedway.

Stores that are closed August 24 will open as Speedway the next day.

I'm told that the operations will pretty much be the same. I also heard that the Hess trucks will be available around Christmas. I really hope that is true.

Apparently there will be one change. "Free Air" is going bye-bye.  Speedway will be charging you if you need air for your tires. So stop by Hess today and get your air while it's free.   Like they say "Nothing in life is free." Now we can add air to the list.
