Have you ever wondered what meals look like in other countries? What's their go to dinner, or afternoon snack? It might not be what you and I would describe as 'tasty'.

Well, you asked for them. Okay, well maybe you didn't, but here are the 10 strangest foods from all over the world.

1. Esacmole - First stop, Mexico. Ant larvae plucked out of the roots of agave plants are a delicacy across the border. Called the "insect caviar" and has been said to taste like butter, only slightly nutty.

2. Brain sandwich - So it is what it is named. A brain slice tucked between the middle of a bun. You thought fish was brain food, well this sandwhich from Missouri actually is! Before you gross yourself out. It's calf brain. OK, yup, I'm still grossed out.

3. Blood tofu - This is not actually tofu. It's just chunks of jellied pork blood. It can be made with any blood too. Yummy! I love variety!

4. Balut - If you get sick with thoughts of... things. Skip this one. A balut is a half developed duck embryo boiled alive and eaten while still in it's shell. Nope. No, and get away from me. It’s a common food Southeast Asia and goes along best with an ice cold beer. If I had to eat this, I would was it down with Jack Daniels. A whole bottle, in hopes to pass out and not remember what I just ate.

5. Smalahove - A smalahove is usually just a sheep's head which I wouldn't want to eat anyway. It’s usually brought to tables before Christmas in Norway and tastes delicious with potatoes. Since 1998, it legally cannot be made from adult sheep (due to fear of possibly getting Scrapie.(A degenerative nervous system disease ) The recipe has been altered to be made with the head of a lamb. Perfect! (Insert vomiting noises)

6. Escargots à la Bourguignonne - This one is from France, and is great. I would eat them all day! Snails cooked in a sauce of white wine, garlic, butter and parsley. Served still in shells and taste kinda like mussels and clams.

7. Casu marzu - Who in their right mind doesn't love cheese? This one will make you think twice and you've heard of this before. Italy has this as one of their most prized delicacies, and its... rotten cheese with live insect larvae squiggling and squirming in it. They leave the cheese out so flies can lay eggs on it, Apparently it is creamy and tastes like ammonia.

8. Fried tarantula - A Cambodian favorite! It's fried spider is coated in salt, garlic and chili seasoning before crunching into it. They say it's kind of like calamari, but it’s dark in color and has a lot of eggs in it as you bite down. Cambodians say it tastes like a combo of chicken and cod. Um... No.

9. Haggis - From Scotland! We know about this and its not too bad. Haggis is minced sheep's heart, liver and lungs mixed in with onions, oatmeal, suet (fats) and salt and spices. Best part? You cook the mix inside the sheep's stomach. Crap, now I'm hungry.

10. Ground Boiled Centipede Chili - Yeah, okay. I made that one up. Although some vegan chili sounds pretty legit right now!

You may have been completely turned off by this list of foods but any world traveler has certainly given at least one of these a shot. I might just google the recipes and invite the neighbors over for some blood tofu.
