I was talking to a woman at the Taste of Home Cooking School last week and as her eyes filled with tears, she told me that she works at a local food pantry and that the shelves are bare. The woman got very emotional as she explained to me that the need for donations is dire and that without them, many in our community will go hungry this winter.

At the Hawk, we’re trying to prevent that from happening with our Food-A-Bago drive. We’ll be set up at Mainesource on Upper Front Street in Binghamton today through Monday, November 11th and we encourage you to collect non-perishable food items to help feed families in Broome County through the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse, C.H.O.W.

All of the donations we receive will help feed the hungry right here in our community this holiday season.

As an added option, you can drop off food items at Warner’s Gas Service at 992 Conklin Road in Conklin, NY and 116 Vestal Road in Vestal. We’ll have a Food-A-Bago bin there too if you can’t visit us at Mainesource.

If you are planning to join us at Mainesource, here are the days and times we’ll be on location accepting your donations:

November 4th through Friday, November 8th from 6am-6pm
Saturday, November 9th and Sunday, November 10th from 8am-6pm
Monday, November 11th from 6am-10 am

If you’d like more information on Food-A-Bago and how you can help, please call us at 607-772-8400.
