I had fun doing a little informal survey over the past few weeks, asking people what their favorite new country is right now and their favorite new artist.  5 out of 10 HAWK listeners mentioned Brett Eldredge.

Since Brett writes all his music, he admits he is romantic at heart.  And that really connects well with his female fans in the Binghamton area.

Brett Eldredge's newest release is a special one to him, called 'Mean To Me.'  In fact, he felt so strong about the tune, he made producing a video a priority.

The song is the third single off of the Illinois native's freshman album, 'Bring You Back,' and was an immediate hit with fans on the road.

“I started playing ‘Mean To Me’ out at shows, and girls just go crazy for it. I literally had somebody get engaged at one of my shows to that song,” he says. “People started saying, ‘I walked down the aisle to that song,' 'That’s my girlfriend and I’s first dance.' It’s cool to hear that. That song has really struck a chord with folks out there. I hope I can sing that one for a long, long time.”

Eldredge penned the song with Scooter Carusoe, and the video features the singer shirtless, getting ready for a romantic evening.

"I'm preparing myself the best I can for this girl because she is everything," he tells People. "She is your world, and you want to make sure everything is perfect for her. It kind of gave me chills shooting it."

'Mean to Me' is available for download on iTunes.
