Today is a great day. It's Cinco De Mayo and National Prayer Day. There is a way to celebrate both at the same time.

Some people think that it's like our July 4th, you know Independence Day. Mexico's Independence Day is September 16th. Today is the day when Mexico defeated the French army in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla.

Today is a day to celebrate the underdog. There's no fear Underdog is here. No not that underdog, although the slogan could fit for what happened in 1862.  If you don't know about Underdog, ask your parents or google it.

The Mexican Army were outnumbered. They didn't have training or much equipment. Yet they found a way to defeat the French.

I think there is a lesson that could be learned here. Many feel that everything is against them. Locally, politically and nationally. Everywhere we turn, there seems to be no hope.

It's also National Prayer day. This year's theme is "Wake Up America." I certainly say "Amen" to that.

Here's how you celebrate the two holidays at once. Celebrate overcoming defeat with Cinco De Mayo and then try prayer for National Prayer Day.

If you try both, you'll realize that you can overcome everything that's around you, one way or another. I always say prayer can't hurt.

Or you can just celebrate by enjoying some Mexican food and a margarita.
