The 3rd Annual Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame will induct ten individuals and one team on April 24th at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Binghamton.  The organization was formed to honor local people who have made significant contributions to the world of sports.

Selected for entry into the Class of 2017 include:

Holly Aprile, softball standout from Afton High School and current Head Softball Coach at the University of Pittsburgh.

Nancy Bromley, intitiated and coached the field hockey program at Greene High School for 25 years.  Won three state championships.

Bill Chanecka, professional basketball player for 14 seasons in both the EBL and ABL.

Steve Chomyszak, starred at Johnson City and played on the defensive line in the NFL with the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals from 1966-1973.

Kelsey Green, Head football coach at Chenango Forks for 12 seasons.  Won seven consecutive Section 4 championships and won a pair of New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships in 2003 and 2004.

Bob Holbert, Professional baseball player with the San Francisco Giants organization and a member of the Section 4 Hall of Fame.  Baseball, basketball and football standout with the Johnson City Wildcats.

Jim Hoover, served 41 seasons as football coach at Walton.  His teams won state football titles in 1994 and 2007.  Career record of 318-85 and coached five undefeated teams.

Sarah Patterson, Head women's gymnastics coach for 35 years at Alabama.  the Union-Endicott graduate.  Her teams won six NCAA championships and she is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

John Schultz, standout for the Vestal Golden Bears, was the MVP for the University of  Maryland in his senior season and went on to played four seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Gerry Skonoeczki, standout all around athlete at Johnson City High. Member of Syracuse Football National Championship in 1959.

Maine-Endwell Little League World Series Championship Team. Went 24-0 and also earned the World Series Team Sportsmanship Award.

Former Major League pitcher and current broadcaster Ron Darling will be the keynote speaker for the event.  Tickets can be reserved by going online to:  www.AJQSports.com. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton and Western Broome.
