Did you know that around 1 in every 100 babies are born every year with congenital heart defects (CHD)?

Elliott Root was one of those children. He was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome. He's a nine year old boy and he's had numerous surgeries through the years.

There is also a group called "Mended Little Hearts" that increase awareness about childhood heart conditions, raise money for research and to connect families who have children with heart conditions with other families to offer support and a sense of hope for the future.

Elliott's mom, Amy started the Binghamton branch so that people in our area can help each other and even offer a shoulder to cry on.

On Saturday, June 11th at the Ford Hill Country Club, it's the 8th Annual "Golf Your Heart Out" tournament to benefit Mended Little Hearts of Binghamton. Shotgun start at 1pm. I've golfed this event in the past and it's a wonderful time for a great cause.

Not a golfer but want to help out? You could just go for dinner as well. Can't make it on the 11th but still want to help?

You can sponsor a hole or donate "In Memory of" someone who was lost to CHD. You can also donate here as well.

To find out more contact Amy at MendedLittleHeartsofBinghamton@yahoo.com. Elliott's parents, Jim and Amy hope to see you on June 11th.
