So it seems like we’ve been hearing an awful lot about gluten these days and for most of us, we don’t even know what gluten does let alone what it is.

To keep it simple, gluten is pretty much the stuff that makes up bread, pasta and any other grainy thing you can think of. Oh! And it’s also in beer, just in case you didn’t already know.

Everyone from celebrities to normal people like you and me are taking the challenge of going gluten-free, thinking they’ll drop a few pounds and become healthier and stronger without all that gluten weighing them down (because that’s obviously what gluten does, anyways).

But honestly, the only people who actually need to give up gluten are those with celiac disease who struggle with digesting the stuff. So why are we all treating ourselves like we have a disease when nobody with a medical degree has specifically told us to stay far, far away from a loaf of bread?

Take a look at the results if this Australian study:

Researchers found that gluten isn’t harmful for those without celiac disease, and while eating too much bread and pasta can cause you to pack on a couple extra pounds and drinking too much beer can leave you rocking the beer gut, there should be no “gastrointestinal distress” for normal people who consume gluten.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, everything in moderation is the key to a long and happy life!
