I always wanted to work the drive thru at Mickey D's, so this past Friday I went to McDonalds on Harry L Drive in Johnson City to buy random customers their lunch.

One of the best parts of my job is actually meeting people and what better way than buying them lunch and thanking them for listening.

Upon arriving I was greeted by the McDonald's manager Kim, they gave me a hat and brought me back to the drive through location where I met Aaron my drive-thru partner for the next hour.

We picked random customers, so we never knew who they were until they came up to pay for their food.

The reactions were all very similar, people couldn't believe they were getting something for free, many wanted to make a donation, to which I replied this is not for any charity, it's just a thank you and an appreciation for stopping by McDonalds.

Some reactions were emotional, one women actually teared up and said 'I was having a really bad day, and you just made it better'

I have to give the credit to McDonalds for giving us an opportunity to engage our community in such an intimate way.

I was also amazed at how many people bring their pets with them and buy them some fries or a hamburger.

It was a great feeling to be able to treat our neighbors to a free lunch.

Special thanks to Kim, Aaron, Cathy from McDonalds.

98.1 The Hawk will be heading to another McDonalds in the area next month.
