Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life may live to see another day.

The Netflix event, which premiered in November 2016 as a nine-years-later extension of its Gilmore Girls predecessor, could see additional episodes. A Year in the Life included four mini-films, each of which centered on a season, and Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos told the UK's Press Association there could be more where that came from.

"The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that," Sarandos said.

He added the talks have been "very preliminary" and noted: "We hope. We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped."

If and when Gilmore Girls does return, it will be without Melissa McCarthy, who said in January that she would not return as lovable chef Sookie.

"No [I wouldn’t come back as Sookie], but I would come back as Lorelai,” she joked to ET. “And that is a challenge to Lauren Graham!
