A quiet neighborhood north of Binghamton has taken on an unusual look as a series of large animal sculptures have popped up.

Architect Norman Davies was intrigued by some unusual creations he spotted while working on a project in Seneca County a few years ago. He tracked down James Seaman, the artist who designed the sculptures, and acquired a couple of small owls to display at his Chenango Forks home.

Davies and his wife Carrolyn liked the owls, so they hired Seaman to design and build a stainless steel sculpture featuring two horses at play. When the horses were ready a few months later, they were transported to a site near the couple's Brookside Lane home.

Shortly after that, Seaman designed a big bear and a large moose which eventually found their way to the street a short distance from Chenango Valley State Park.

The latest addition to the unusual neighborhood menagerie is a stainless steel bison, with horns fashioned out of glass.

Davies said he and his wife enjoy viewing the sculptures from the home he designed. He said he's not sure if he'll want to expand the collection.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Seaman said he'd be willing to go back to work to construct another sculpture, if they decide it's appropriate.
