The local Gannett office at Airport Corporate Center has provided accounting support services to the media company's operations across the United States.

According to a notice filed with the New York State Department of Labor and posted on the agency's website, 31 people will be affected by the move.

Five of the workers are expected to leave the company around October 12. The remaining 26 employees are to be terminated by October 27.

According to the notice provided to the Department of Labor, the reason for dislocation of the employees is described as "economic."

Gannett is consolidating the unit's operations at its headquarters in Fishers, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis.

The unit operates independently of the Gannett Press & Sun-Bulletin and the company's Central New York Production Facility.

The Binghamton newspaper's editorial and advertising offices are located at Airport Corporate Center. The production site south of CFJ Boulevard in Johnson City prints the company's Binghamton, Elmira and Ithaca newspapers.
